Thailand is a country blessed with many breathtaking national parks. When visiting this diverse and beautiful nation, Thailand's national parks stand in striking contrast to the surrounding areas filled with hotels and resort developments. These parks offer a chance to experience Thailand's unspoiled wilderness and rich wildlife in their natural habitats. Below are some of Thailand's most incredibly beautiful national parks.

1. Ao Phang Nga National Park

Ao Phang Nga National Park is a marine national park located in Phang Nga Province in southern Thailand. There are many attractions to explore within this marine park, so if you're able to stay here for at least a few days, it would be ideal. The park encompasses a bay made up of 42 karst islands and features beautiful beaches, dramatic limestone cliffs, caves, and lagoons waiting to be explored.

The most popular spot is James Bond Island, which gained worldwide fame after scenes from the 007 film The Man with the Golden Gun were filmed there. If you're interested in exploring caves, you may want to join a day tour to the caves on Koh Panak, which can only be accessed by boat.

2. Mu Ko Similan National Park

Similan Islands National Park is another marine national park in Thailand, consisting of an archipelago of 11 islands located about 70 kilometers (43 miles) off the Andaman Sea coast. These granite islands are equally stunning above and below the water's surface. The island peaks are covered with tropical rainforest, surrounded by white sandy beaches, while coral reefs encircle the waters below.

From December to April, the water is exceptionally clear, making it the best time for snorkeling and scuba diving. Some of the islands, such as Ko Miang and Ko Similan, have hotels and restaurants. Several tour companies offer diving trips to these islands, and some itineraries allow you to stay on a boat for multiple nights while diving during the day.

3. Khao Sok National Park

This national park is located in Surat Thani Province and is primarily composed of rainforest and jungle. In fact, it is considered one of the rainiest places in Thailand, which helps sustain a wide variety of plant and animal life. In addition to hundreds of bird species, the park is home to wild cats, deer, tapirs, elephants, and wild boar.

You can also find one of the world's largest flowers here—the Rafflesia kerrii—which is increasingly rare in Thailand and grows only in Khao Sok. The best time to visit is during the dry season from June to October. The period from April to June is the monsoon season, when heavy rainfall can make many trails slippery and difficult to navigate.
